Being a writer

I have seen a number of people that have been talked out of writing by teachers, significant others, parents, or friends.

I hope never to talk someone out of writing. If you have any desire to write, write.  I am not saying it is going to be easy. You will find your inner critic is going to tell you your writing has problems or doesn’t match up. Forget that. To be a proficient writer takes practice.

Don’t let someone else’s opinion of your writing scare you off. If your grammar needs work, work on it. Your prose falls limp? It will develop with practice and reading.

Whatever you do, don’t give up. As long as you keep writing you are a writer. You get better only with practice.
